Caden got the blue bubble gum flavor and wanted to show everyone his blue tongue. Ethan got two big scoops of chocolate something or another. Stacie got a sundae and I scored a banana split. Gabe is out roughing it with his Boy Scout troop camping a few miles away from home. This is the first night in his life that he has not slept in the same house/tent with a member of his immediate family, I believe. Hope he's OK.

North Carolina Treasures in Print
This is one of several framed prints of various awesome places throughout North Carolina that have been hung in the first floor of Central Carolina Hospital. It's an awesome little collection and I really enjoy it as I wander through the halls at work each day. This print is a photo of the little bridge on the lake at The Graylyn Conference Center in Winston-Salem, where I worked for three years. Graylyn is a beautiful place, and I miss it.

They Thought We Had Five
As we walked through Kohl's and BJ's tonight everyone thought we had five kids and stared. We've been babysitting our niece and nephew a couple of days while they wait for their baby brother to leave the hospital. They were fun to have around!

Gabe with Smallmouth
It's been a slow fishing day and it's very windy today, so the fly rod was frustrating to wield. But Gabe hooked this nice little smallmouth on his spinning rod with a Rebel Crawdad. I caught several about as big as the bait I was using. Maybe tomorrow...

First Smallmouth on the Fly Rod
My first fish of the trip, this nice smallmouth bass, caught on a green beadhead woolybugger on the fly rod. I caught a couple more like this and called it a day.
Ethan Caught the First Fish
It took Ethan about 5-minutes to land the first fish of the trip, this little rock bass (red-eye) on a Rapala minnow. He was happy. Check the Spider Man rod.
Headed for the Mountains
I need to recharge my batteries, so we're headed for the hills for the week. Hopefully I can put a few photos and commentary up. It all depends on the signal I get. As always, I'll be on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/fishingpipe) but it may be spotty depending on the cell service up in those mountains along the Blue Ridge. I'm taking my lap top, the Nikon D70, and the Canon SD-1000. Whether I'll break any or all of them out remains to be seen. Or, in better terms, depends on the size fish I am catching.
